‘Feats of Modest Valour’, directed and produced by Alice McDowell and Mia Mullarkey of Ishka Films is now available to watch online. This film was developed under the ‘Science on Screen’ initiative in 2016, with the support of CÚRAM, the SFI Research Centre for Medical Devices, Galway Film Centre and Science Foundation Ireland.
It looks at the lives of Tom, Milena and Brian who are overshadowed by a strict regime of medication and the physical realities of Parkinson’s disease. Meanwhile, Éilís and her team of scientists are developing a new medical device, which could potentially slow, halt or even cure the devastating disease. In ‘Feats of Modest Valour’, observation and animation converge to provide insight into human mortality and ground-breaking medical science.
